    Rat rack help

I built the small tub rat rack using the plans from the rodent rack website. I noticed it is not very sturdy and the tubs fall out when i slid them out which is annoying me. I will be adding some 1x4s o. The side to maybe make it better. Please take look and let me know what i can hange to make it better. Thanks for the help.

I have never made a rack before, but from what I know about building stuff. I would just add a few more supports to tighten up the base of each tub. Maybe even ply wood on the side but that might cause more problems? I'm sure someone will chime. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

Looks good. Yeah, I did the same thing, I made the tubs fit with a little play, not realizing that the bins will flex a bit and prone to falling out. I ended up slapping some more wood on the rails that support the rack so that the sides of the bins are touching it.

For more support I would add diagonal bracing to the sides. On my racks I also used a piece of masonite about 12" wide all the way down the backside as my stop. That also helped make a huge difference in sturdiness.

Switch from 1X2 rails to 2X2 and they'll stop falling out. Your rack is too wide.
