I'm sure this has been asked about a gazillion times but after doing some searches, I didn't turn up a whole lot on the topic and looking for some experienced advice. I'm just curious about the signs of a snake that is still hungry after feeding. My snake just ate it's first meal since I obtained him. Little background; male Spider that hatched out 6-15-12. Got him from Constrictors Unlimited (great experience BTW) and picked him up from their facility on Sunday (7-8-12.) He'd had 3 meals prior and eating live hopper mice. Got a hopper for him today and he was definitely hungry if him trying to munch my mouse scented watch band is any indication (handled him for weigh-in only). Took him about 15 minutes to stalk, kill, and eat it. After he was finished swallowing, though, he spent a lot of time smelling and circling the area where the mouse had been sitting. He had that excited, feverish movement like when they get really interested in prey. Is this a normal behavior or an I'm-still-hungry indicator? He weighs 85 grams but I don't have a weight on the hopper... didn't think about it at the time. But it was about medium sized and to the eye appeared roughly the same size around as the snake. It made a mildly noticeable, albeit not large, lump in his abdomen. I could follow it down his body if I watched close enough. After about 5 minutes of the fervent sniffing, he made a beeline to the hidey on the hot side of his habitat where he's still hanging out.
