Hello Everyone!
Hi everyone! My name is Jenny, I live in South Georgia with my Submariner husband, my two sons that keep me on my toes and all my critters. My family consists of Tank the pitbull, Cujo and Duke the dachshunds, 4 pet rats, my aquarium with fluffy the Pufferfish and Hades the clown knifefish, and the newest member to our clan, Boots the ball python.
First I want to say wow and thank you to everyone on this site, what a wealth of knowledge here! I started reading here about a week ago. I got a ball python from Petsmart and was dismayed to find after picking out the one I wanted that she hadn't eaten yet any of the times they offered. At that point I couldn't pick a different one, I found MY snake and loved her already. (I don't know her sex, I just think of her as a "she". At some point I may bring her to a reptile convention or the exotic animal vet to have her sexed but I am not planning on breeding or anything so it isn't really important to me.) I have had her a few weeks and was offering f/t every five days to no avail. I've made sure the temps were good, I avoided handling her so she wouldn't stress, nothing produced results.
After reading here LOTS and searching the web and watching youtube videos for about a week, tonight I attempted assist feeding. She opened pretty easily when I pressed the fuzzy against her nose and I didn't push it in much at all, just kind of put it in her mouth after she opened for me. I left her in her box and walked away and agonized and worried for an hour straight but didn't want to disturb her. After an hour I peeked in... to see a fat happy snake and no fuzzy!!!! I am over the moon thrilled and it is a HUGE weight off my chest. I owe it to everyone here for their awesome advice and wisdom that you all have posted to others. A THOUSAND THANK YOUS!
I look forward to posting with you all and learning much more.

Hey Jenny, I live next door in Kingsland. I am also new to the forum and new to owning a BP. I have had mine since February. I have not had the trouble feeding mine as you have but I have been battling with getting my heat and humidity correct for the tank. I found this forum while search for answers on what to do. The forum has been a wealth of information.
Did you get your BP at the petsmart at river city near jax airport? I got mine there and even had to take it out of their cage because the girl there did not want to reach in to pick up the snake.
Also the pet supplies store we have next to walmart in St marys has a couple of employees that own BP's and have been somewhat helpful. You just have to catch them when they are at work because most of the other employees don't know much about BP's

Howdy neighbor!!! You're a Kingsland firefighter? We may know some of the same people, I have a couple friends that are firefighters. Also if you have responded to a motorcycle accident that involved a woman with pink hair you have met me.
I love some of the people that work at pet supplies plus, I occasionally babysit a friends bearded dragon and I have brought him up there with me and there is one or two of the girls that work there that are incredibly knowledgeable on them.
