    Volbeat

Live north of Detroit and went to see Volbeat/Hellyeah/Iced Earth on Tuesday, great show!

I'm old and grew up in the 80's and love bands like Misfits, Possessed, Venom, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Testament, Death, Bloodfeast, Minor Threat, ect. I don't care for newer bands ( to me real metal died around 1991).

Earlier in the year went to see Megadeth and Motörhead at the Palace and there was Volbeat opening, was like who the hell is Volbeat? Checked them out and bought all of their cd's the next day, my favorite band in the past 15 years at least lol...

Yeah I am pretty set in my ways and don't like most bands that have come out over the last years but they are really awesome. Plus doesn't hurt Hank Sherman is standing in as their guitar player (I'm a guitarist for the last 33 years and love Mercyful Fate)... Years ago after a King Diamond show got invited to hang out on their tour bus and hung out with Hank and King, was an unreal experience. They had porn playing on the tv's in the tour bus and Hank offered me fresh baked cookies lol was really cool

At the graves is still my favorite lol personal reasons. My brothes have the same taste in music as you so I was brought up with iron maiden, Megadeth, judas priest, pantera, etc.

My brothers don't like volbeat very much. They have the mentality that if they didn't find them first then it's not a good band lol

I agree that modern mainstream metal pretty much sucks, but good metal is still out there, you just have to look for it and you won't hear it on the radio. Its all underground these days. That is where the real talent lies.

That said, I'm going to be guy who goes against the grain and say I can't stand Volbeat. Nothing about them appeals to me, but in my defense I have a rather sophisticated/picky taste in music.
