Re: Surprise! :O
Genetics are the same for all species of animal that reproduce sexually and have dominant and recessive traits.
I don't know about corn genetics either, but if the lavender gene is dominant:
1/8 het motley
1/8 het motley het x
1/8 motley
1/8 motley het x
1/8 lavender het motley
1/8 lavender motley
1/8 lavender het motley het x
1/8 lavender motley het x
Hope this helps

Re: Surprise! :O
Such cute little worms!!! Congrats!
The genes you're working with (Lavender, "Ghost" [Hypo Anery], and Motley) are all simple recessive. So your normies are all het lav, anery, hypo, mot, and your lovely anery boy is anery motley het hypo and lav. Your lavender mother must also be het anery, too! Always fun to discover hidden hets!
Just a few other points to consider:
- The motley gene is allelic to stripe, but is dominant to stripe. Dominance runs normal --> motley --> stripe. So, say, normal is A, motley is a1, and stripe is a2. A "het motley" typically means the gene combination Aa1, so the motley gene is hidden because the dominant normal gene is present. Technically, the combination a1a2 is -also- het motley, but will express as motley because a1 is dominant to a2. Basically, the long and short is: don't be so sure your lav is het motley, because she may very well be het stripe. Might be fun to try to prove her on a stripe male.
Also, both of your motley kiddos have clear bellies, right? Andromeda is a -glaring- motley (and just lovely, btw!), but Perseus sort of has the 'vanishing motley' look going, which can pop up through bloodlines with no motley influence. So just checking
Beautiful clutch! Congrats!!!
