I was afraid to take him out of the cup- so he did it by himself.

I'm 21. He's cute. Those hides look too big to make him feel secure. Maybe consider stuffing some moss or something in them to make them tighter? Or ideally pick up two, small identical hides...one for cool side and one for warm. If and when you can manage. The log hides aren't great for BPs.
