Saddest Bumble Bee wobble ever :(
I went to a local self owned pet store yesterday. They take pretty good care of their reptiles and arachnids. Fish are soso. But anyways they had the saddest little 2011 bumblebee male there. He was on the dark bottom shelf in a exo terra 18x18x18 with a $700 price tag. But what made me really sad is how bad this little guys wobble was.
It was straight up close to making me a big man cry in the middle of the pet store haha. He was just sitting at the front of the tank. Whipping his head back and forth and twisting it up side down and right side up and side to side. Smashing it off the glass and the ground. It was so terribly sad. It was really bad and he couldnt stop it at all. I wanted to open the cage and just run out the store with him.
I wish I could have got some video. I dont agree with putting animals down because they have a disability but this guy was an absolute mess that kept smashing his head of the glass and couldnt sit still and just kept throwing his head back. He looked like he was in a lot of pain.
I feel so terrible. Making me tear up again just thinking about the poor little guy.

Taking him home wouldn't have changed how bad his wobble is. I know that someone who doesn't have much experience with a severe wobble would be sad, but I'm sure he eats, drinks, sleeps and poops just fine.
I just have to ask, how does a snake "look" when they are in pain? I have seen a few snakes where they had injuries that would be extremely painful, but they didn't "look" any different ( to me ) then another ball. I'm not trying to be a smart@$$, I'm simply curious.

I imagine all the thrashing, writhing and bouncing his head off the glass and substrate is being interpreted as looking like he's in pain. More of a body language thing, and not a facial expression thing...That's pretty sad...

Lucifer Sam, Siam cat...
Always sitting by your side,
Always by your side...
That cat's something I can't explain...

Well of course BUT. Most people who go into pet stores around here know absolutely NOTHING about ball pythons. So that poor male is going to sit in that small tank because everybody is just going to walk past him. Or an inexperienced person with buy him and he will most likely die. Or he will never sell and waste away on the dark bottom shelf in this pet store.
Besides his wobble he look very nice. Bright colour nice pattern. I might go back and offer $300 for him and give him A LOT better life then he has being in that pet store.

my spider has wobble. when I first got her, and took her out, I was wtf is this!! I contacted the guy I got her from, as I had no clue at the time about wobble. He said it was a spider thing. Anyways, only a few months in, the wobble has calmed down...a lot. She still has it, but not like she is on a roller coaster. So, I feel way better, and she is a little piggy. Never misses a strike at a mouse, (soon to switch to rats) with the way she is growing.

Im sure a glass terrarium isent the best idea for the little guy either I know when they get stimulated they have more of a wobble than when there resting. Im sure he would do much better in a rack were theres less distractions but who knows. I would try to get a deal on him like you said because im sure hes going to have a very hard time selling him in that condition.

Well I had FULL intentions on getting a male bumble bee anyways. I am just waiting for my money to come in. So if the little guy is still there by the end of the week I will go pick him up.
