    Slugs (un-bred) again!

For the second year in a row, my virgin Western Hognose girl (Charlotte) gave me a bunch of slugs... last year it was 11 of them, and this year she laid 10 rather hard ones. She has never even seen a male, so maybe she's hinting that she needs a boyfriend?

I'm actually hoping to get a male for next season, but don't have the space or money right now - so she'll just have to wait! Anyone else have a girl who laid big & consecutive slug clutches, and is there anything I need to worry about? She seems fine now, actually took a meal within 24 hours, and I can't feel anything stuck in there. Oh, and does the size of her slug clutches indicate she'll have even bigger "live" clutches?

The first time she laid slugs, I thought there were grapes in her tub.

I'll make this her snake-match.com profile pic... "Full-figured gal seeks fertile young male," LOL.

She will be ok, you don't need to get her a male if you don't want to. Just a thought and maybe it won't work but try running your temps on the higher end of the range and it might keep her from going again next year.

Thanks for the replies! She's doing fine, and I'll consider what to do for next season... I hesitate to breed Hognoses because of the feeding issues (I hear the babies are difficult to start), but I do have a local place that would buy them out of the egg if necessary. Another local shop, which breeds their own reptiles, has a beautiful little guy on sale right now - so maybe I'll snatch him up, if I sell the BPs & corns I'm thinking of re-homing.

Almost exactly one year since this thread, and guess what? This time she gave me 17 little grapes!! If those were real eggs, I'd be looking at a nice chunk of change.

Still on the fence about getting her a boyfriend, so maybe next year if I can reduce the rest of the collection first. I'm thinking of something fancy, like an albino or anaconda? I dunno, but she obviously wants to make some babies. Here's the "clutch" from this season:

LOL. That one is huge, huh? I actually candled it, just because I couldn't believe it was a slug.
