Re: Impressive!
That has got to be the coolest gecko EVER. He looks tough and mean...what are their demeanors like. We will be going to repticon this weekend wonder if they'll have any there?

Thanks. It all depends on the individual gecko. I wouldn't want to take a bite from an adult. This mixed locale (Nuu Ana X Nuu Ami) is supposed to have the best/calm personality and most vibrant colors. Most shows I've been to have a very limited supply if any. They have been becoming very popular in the last years, you may have some opportunities to find one.

Your leachie is amazing!! I like the diamond pattern very much. Who was the breeder you bought from? And any pics of your other one?
I got my Pine Isle male from Magical Geckos. Dennis was great to work with. It was an unexpected purchase - I was shocked to find Humphrey at our local expo. He was the only one there and I'd never seen one there before. But once you hold a leachie, there's no going back, lol...

I agree they are very prehistoric looking. I also love how wrinkly they are, i would probably play with their wrinkles lol. And i like how big they get, almost like a gecko version of a beardie!

Gorgeous guy!
I agree that once you hold a Leachie you will never go back, lol. I had barely heard of Leachies a few months ago but I got to hold one at a local Reptile meeting and completely fell in love!
Right now the price is the only thing keeping me from going out and getting one RIGHT now, hahaha.
0.2.0 Leopard Geckos- Gaia and Prim, 0.0.1 African Fat-tailed Gecko- Latte

Wow, your male is gorgeous! I'm very excited to get mine up to adult size. Leachies are by far the most impressive gecko I've ever seen. They are big yet those wrinkles give them a kind side. Mine were super small when I got them one was 8 grams the other was 12 grams. They are both now over 50 grams. When they finally decided to start eating dubia roaches is when they started to grow fast.
I always forget his last name but his name is Kirk. I have his phone number and have talked to him a few times since the purchase. He's a great guy somewhat local to me, he lives in Phoenix. He doesn't have a business name but has been working with Rhacs for well over a decade. He actually started out working with Leachies before any other Rhac species and is good friends with the majority of the "Rhac Gods".
My purchase wasn't really impulsive, but like you I was surprised to see some especially of this quality at a local show. I've only seen one other breeder have them at any of the shows close to me but his were all adults. I spent the majority of my time at the show chatting it up with him, he was way too knowledgable and kind to not buy some from him. I decided to go with two because he raises up a ton of his hatchlings. He told me if I end up with a same sex or incompatable pair he would trade me for the opposite sex or one that would breed. I couldn't pass it up.
I will go ahead and take some pictures of both of them together soon and post them in a new thread.

They really are, the eyes remind me of golf balls for some reason.

I agree! They do leave a ton of little scratches on your arm that you won't notice until you wash your hands. It's not horrible by any means, totally worth it.

Thanks. That's how I fell in love with them too. I saw them online and didn't really think that much of them until I held an adult in person. From then on I was hooked and ended up taking the plunge a little over a year later.

Thank you! My Humphrey is about 2/3 grown at about 150gm. He won't eat insects though - fruit and CGD only for him - but despite that, he does eat well and he's growing well.
They really are like bearded dragons - in a gecko sort of way, lol. And almost just as big. I was wanting a beardy but I didn't want to have to do the bug thing. When I started looking into the leachies and found they could just eat CGD, I thought this was the way to go. I am soooo glad I did!!! Humphrey is personable and loves to be held. He'll sit on my shoulder for hours at a time and he'll even wear a little harness I fashioned out of a few strips of fleece. Incredible!! I'll have to post a pic of that....
What I can't get over is how SOFT they are. Their wrinkly skin and feet pads feel like rose petals! You truly haven't lived until you've felt those great big gecko-feet padding all over you.....
