rack question
Hey Guys,
I bought a DIY 7 bin 41qt rack this week from a local guy that builds them. One thing I noticed when I got it home is that it has about an eight of an inch between the bin and the above shelf.
Is this okay?
It doesn't look big enough for anything to get out but I thought I would swing it by you guys and see what you though. It's fitted with belly heat but the flexxwatt is laying flush on the shelf so I am assuming this is why he left a slight bit of space near the top..
cheers,
Chris.

I'm going to post some pictures when I get home from work in the morning, to give you guys a better idea.
Thanks.

Re: rack question
I wouldn't thin an 1/8 inch would be easy to get out of since a 41qt. would be for adults but maybe more difficult to hold humidity? Then again I have ALOT of holes in mine to keep the humidity down but they are real snug in the rack.

Re: rack question
Hi Chris,
Your local rack guy here...
I use the 1/8" spacer so the bin and tape have minimal friction. You won't have to worry about any of your balls escaping. You can also use 28qt sterilites as well. those will fit exact since those bins are 1/8" higher.
I built my 9-bin rack the same way and humidity will hold and I have never had a bad shed... even in my bottom bins. I use aspen chip as my bedding.
Give me a call / text if you have any questions or concerns
Mike

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the response! I'm moving my girls over to it in the morning! The rack is working out great by the way, its holding heat with perfect gradients. I left a positive feedback on your Reptiles Canada account.
Cheers,
Chris.
P.S. I sent a guy from here your contact info, so he might be getting a hold of you soon.
Thanks again.

Yeah me too, my 10 bin 28qt rack holds humidity like you wouldn't believe! My apartment is always 60% humidity, even in the winter so the bins are always 80+ %.. I have my other bins looking like swiss cheese! So the slight open top will benefit my situation! Cheers,

Are 28qt bins big enough for a adult BP?

I use 28 quarts for small male adults and they do fine in them. I wouldn't put biggie females in them, though! And only if they're the Sterilite 28quarts that are more square on the corners. There is a version that is more rounded, and they have a smaller footprint with a wider top.
