Are products generally significantly cheaper at expos???
Like the topic says, I am curious to see if products are generally a lot cheaper at expos than the same ones you can find online.
I ask because I am going to Repticon in Atlanta in July, and was just wondering if I should just wait until to buy a new enclosure.
Also, any feedback anybody has about a Repticon they have been to would be greatly appreciated
Oh, and Repticon is a 2 day event; do they have different things on each days? Or is it the same vendors, products, etc on both days? Just curious if I'm going to need to get a hotel or not!
Thanks a ton

Yes generally everything is cheaper. That and you dont have to pay tax and also you can haggle on all prices. It never hurts to ask for a lower price just dont be stupid about it like asking $150 for a $400 item. Generally I will ask depending on what it is $10 cheaper if not $10 Ill go $5 if they drive a hard bargain find a different place or accept the price.
Thats about it.I would hold off on buying anything you need until the expo. I find everything is cheaper. Including enclosures and like I said haggle. It doesnt hurt to ask.

I've never found prices to be any cheaper at shows or expos. If you looking at a new enclosure, it should be cheaper to pick up from an expo to avoid shipping charges. I'd contact the manufacturer though just to be sure...they will probably only have a limited number of enclosures for sale and may not have what you want. I'd try to arrange it before hand...

I have attended/vended at 2 repticon events. Everything is the same on both days. Awesome events though, very well organized, great door prizes and raffles, friendly helpful staff.
I'm not sure what products you are referring to, but for the most part you are going to pay almost the same price as online, minus the shipping. For example, LLL seems to have the same prices at the shows as online (maybe a few exceptions) but you don't have to pay the shipping and it is in your hands right now! Frozen feeders are a great deal at the shows, I recommend stocking up as much as you need and/or can afford!

Re: Are products generally significantly cheaper at expos???
We've attended the show the last few years. I will say that since the depression started, (oops I mean recession, wink wink, nudge nudge) there has been a decline in the number of vendors and such, but still the best place to see a great variety of animals, and get a chance for some face time with very knowledgable people. Like others have said there is no difference from Saturday to Sunday except that the longer the show goes, the selection diminishes as people are buying. It can't be more than a 50 minute ride from McDonough so you wouldn't need a hotel regardless.
The only thing I have seen that is not priced better is the Frozen rats. I think that they actually bump there price per rat up a little bit. But they have to cover their costs for the space at the show and it is still way better a deal than having to pay for shipping. That being said, Mice Direct is in Cleveland Georgia which is less than a two hour drive from McDonough. Cleveland is also just a couple miles from Helen, GA which is a very cool place to spend a day. Kids can go tubing down the river there, the woman can shop, plus there are good restaurants.

Re: Are products generally significantly cheaper at expos???
Though last weekends ETHS show was my first reptile expo, I have worked and been to enough expos that I know the expo is the same everyday for the expo, however. if you see something you want on Saturday and can't work a deal, go back on Sunday and sometimes the vendors want to unload a product so they don't have to pack it back up. you can end up getting a 15-20% discount. I seen it happening Sunday at ETHS here in Houston, however there wasn't very many vendors there it wasn't all that big and most people bought stuff on Sunday which was mothers day but there wasn't a lot of return faces and not that many people attended. To meet some knowledgeable people face to face was really cool. instead of talking to yall online
naw still love bp.net mates.

There is a vendor that sells a ton of Reptile Basics products at my local show. Prices are usually the same as listed on the site. I bought a heat pad from the site for $15 (plus ~$8 shipping), and bought the same item at the show for $18 even. It actually ended up being cheaper due to shipping costs.
I've been buying my rats from the same supplier (a local rodent breeder) for almost a year now. Her prices are consistent both at shows and on delivery.

I found prices to be about 5-10% on some things and not anything on others.

I found prices to be more or less the same. The only benefit is that you can see the animal or product in person so you can really see the quality. Also you can try and talk down prices, but right off the bat, the prices were up there.
