    Enclosure Question

I just converted my Bearded Dragon enclosure over for my new spider coming today. Question is would heat cable be able to keep the ambient temps up instead of using the CHE heater in there now? I have to heat mats under the substrate for belly heat so there would be no issue there. I am currently using the CHE in the lower enclosure in the pic for my normal female with no issues but I was thinking about converting that one also. The enclosures measure about 2ft high x 2ft deep x 4ft wide. They are very well insulated and I used insulated windows for doors so retaining heat is not an issue. I was thinking about attaching the cables to the inside tops of each enclosure. What length cable would it take to produce enough heat. By the way the setup is in my basement with a constant temp of between 70 and 75 degrees all year round.

The only way to know is the temps will stay up in your home is to put a temp guage in there and find out. What works in my house might not in yours

Also, those are a little on the huge size unless you have adults.

    Re: Enclosure Question

I've got temp gauages in various locations in the enclosures and use a laser temp meter also so monitoring is not an issue. As for the size, the female in the lower enclosure is 1009 grams and has been in there since she was a little over 600 grams with no issues. I have several hides in each with the various temps so they can pick the spot they like. The male ia little over 200 grams so I may slip a divider in there if he doesnt adjust like she did.
