    Possible Trade

I have a pastel female roughly 700g, I have someone that wants to trade me a female het pied roughly 400-500g range. Do you all think it would be a fair trade for both of us and/or in my best interest?

Current plans for the pastel is pairing her with my pastel lesser male or possibly even my pied male. Eventually I will have pieds but were looking at 4-5yrs time. If I get the het then were cutting that by a lot. Now one of my goals is to make pieds so I am leaning toward it. My boss (wife) is telling me not too.

Value wise I am assuming the pastel is $300-400 range & the het I would assume is at least that much possibly more. He said he has papers from the breeder he bought her from saying it's 100% het pied.

    Thanks as always

    Do you trust the person?

Have you verified the paperwork does it come with a picture ID?

Have you contacted the person who originally produce the animal, did they verify the picture ID and that the animal was sold to that person?

That's where I would start before even contemplating the trade.

I wouldn't buy a het from anyone other then a reputable breeder "paperwork" or not, there are shady people in this world. But hey, it's just advice........you can do whatever you want to do!

Thanks, yeah that is pretty much what my wife is telling me. How do we know he just didn't put some kind of paperwork together saying it's a het & after years of work then nothing.... I will ask who he bought it from and try and contact them to verify before I proceed.

I am glad this website is here so I can ask my dumb questions & get good answers

Depending on the original paperwork and breeder it can be tracked down.

For example I keep records of customers and their purchased and any animal sold can be identified as I keep all the pictures pertaining to that specific, animal not only the one featured on the genetic paperwork, this way down the road everything can be verified.

Personally, I would much prefer a Super Pastel Lesser over a Pied. I love Pieds, but a super pastel lesser is a powerhouse of a snake. If I were you, I'd make those, save up and buy a pied male and make Pastel Lessers het pied.

As far as even trade, unless I know the person, or I get guaranteed genetics paperwork with photo ID, I won't touch hets.

I agree with everything said. If you do get paperwork and the background clears i think its a fair trade. Dont think about the money aspect you already have the pied so why not make more pieds! Do whatever you want to get out of it. Non of the morphs are going anywhere and you can always produce your super pastel lessers down the road. Its always more rewarding to make something you like than to just buy it.
