    Agitation followed by Apathy

My spider ball, Charlotte, hasn't eaten in a little over two weeks. She will only eat live mice, and so far my efforts to get her to switch to ASFs have been in vain.

This past week she became extremely restless and would constantly prowl around in her tub. I figured this was due to hunger, and offered ASF hoppers that she would notice, but then decide not to eat. Every time I opened the tub she would shoot out of it and try to go up the wall, like she just really wanted to escape.

A couple of nights ago when I offered the ASF hopper I also dangled a F/T mouse nearby to help give her the scent to see if she would take the hopper. She became even more excited, and then began twisting sideways and sliding the top of her head against the sides of the bin. Never seen her do that before.

After that incident she has become very apathetic. She has been laying in a coil with her head tilted slightly sideways and laying on the ground. It's odd because part of her body will be slightly sideways in the coil, and then the rest of her body is upright.

I flipped her on her back a few times and she had no trouble righting herself. I've handled her (not since she became apathetic) and she was active with good tongue movement and a firm grip on my hand.

Before this strange behavior I had put my male pastel butter in with her for a few days at a time, but I didn't observe any interest or locking.

She's in a 41 quart bin with a lid and some holes in the side for ventilation. She's on cypress mulch and I check her water a few times a week. Temperatures and humidity seem to be fine.

Sounds your spider's wobble is starting to show. I don't believe there's really anything that can be done about it.

I'm really not worried about the wobble so much as I am by her mood swings and the odd way she's been laying when resting.
