2nd year no eggs. Is something wrong with her?
I have two 2008 females that aren't building at all. One of them has locked consistently all winter. But no dice! She's 1800 grams. Last year she was 1400 grams and it was the same thing: lots of locks, no eggs. Last year I assumed she was just too young or too small. But two years in a row?
Meanwhile, I have two 2009 girls that are ovulating.
Could something be the matter with my 2008? Should I get her checked out?

Some girls just dont go every year. I have one female who is nine years old, and just ovulated for the second time in her life. Last time when she laid she gave me 7 good eggs, so I know shes more than capable. She locks every year too, just rarely produces.

I agree, she might not be one that gives you eggs very often. I have a female that has gone three years in a row for me, and never went for the guy who had her before me, she's 7 years old. Maybe she is just a late bloomer? I don't know.

Got a 2006 female here going for the first time and due to lay next week/week after. She's been 1500g+ 3 years running.
also a 2007 female gravid for the first time.
And another that laid in 2010, missed last year but looks to be on the way to laying this year.
Sometimes they just don't want to go

not all females breeding cycles are from oct to april. and some can change from year to year. I have a few females right now that I'm hoping they are starting their breeding cycles. ( follicle growth from 5mm, now close to 10mm using an ultrasound )
or, not all females breed at or around 1500 grams.
I don't think anything is a matter with your female. just timing ( her not being ready or the wrong time of the year) keep placing the male with her and good luck

This!
Some of mine breed at completely different times of the year than the others.
And some years they just don't want to breed - I moved flat a year (and a bit ) ago and all breeding activity stopped dead in the group that had been going at it like the clappers.

I was having the same problem with 3 of my 08' girls, a het albino, yellowbelly, and fire. They have all locked over 20 times since sept and I thought I was out of luck again this year. I just kept pairing and 1 ovulated a couple of weeks ago and the fire is ovulating as I write this. They almost drove me nuts. Keep pairing I would say.

I thought of that? But I actually have two 2008 female pieds on deck this year. The smaller one has 6 big follicles and is maybe a week or two from ovulation!
...and the big one is in a holding pattern. Sigh.
