Please inform if its normal or common for a hatchling, (just bought yesterday) to stay in his hide from about 10pm last nite and never come out? (unless he did while I was asleep)
He did peep out a few hours ago but went back in.

Im new to the BP world as well. I thought the "curious & social" BP that we brought home 4 weeks ago was the "normal BP Behavior" but since her first meal and then going into hiding, we realized the "social" behavior was probably more of a stress or hungry behavior.
Now she does as you describe. Sit in there and peek out once in a while to see if I have anything good to offer lol She does get more active the day or two before her feeding.

Over all, I think she's still settling into her new home- trying to figure us out, as we are trying to figure her out.

Enjoy learning- its been a fun experience for us so far.

So when should I introduce his 1st feeding, if he's always in hiding how can I know if he's comfortable enough to feed in his new surroundings?

Bout a week or 2 before trying to feed. Try a little rat pup if its a babe (prey item should be a tiny bit bigger in circumference as the thickest part of the snake.. whatever size rat that may be). There are tons of feeding posts on here, And please please please read up on other ball python subjects as well! You will probably have every question u can think of answered if u read a few care sheets and some articles.

Have fun learning about and enjoying your amazing new addition to the family. And I'm sure we will be seeing a picture thread soon of your next BP after u become severely addicted as we all are.

They're ambush predators, you'll know when he comes exploding out of that hide to slay the rodent that got too close.
