I got a ball python yesterday..

I was told it was a banded, but I looked them up and it came up with genetic banded.. is there a difference between the two? Because honestly, he looks more like a genetic banded to me..
Also he locked up with my normal female, and on WOBP it says that "banded" is recessive, and "genetic banded" is co-dominant, so I don't even know what I will be getting

You got this snake yesterday and he's already paired with your females? Don't know what the outcome will be, but let's hope it isn't an illness.

Yes he is locked up with her right now. Got him from a friend down the street. What do you mean illness?

    Quarantine!!

IMO this is a must whenever a new snake is introduced to my reptile room/collection.

Your Quarantine process is what allows you to determine and prevent diseases or parasites brought in by a new ball python. Without a proper quarantine period you could be introducing you snake to ... who knows what.

Omg. You HAVE to quarantine any new animals to prevent spread of illness. It is basic practice to quarantine any new animals to your colllection. That way you ensure their health, while protecting your existing collection. Otherwise you could have mites or RI, or god knows what spread through all your snakes.

The snake was taken to the vet in April and does not have a history of any illness, I know it seems "irresponsible" but I know the person I got the snake from personally and the snake. He has never refused a meal or had any problems since birth. He was "quarantined" there.

I would not bother reasoning with "revolution reptiles" better known for her BOI thread on fauna classifieds.
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...315015&page=18 (scroll down the page, it shows the connection to this alias)

This girl is a child (she says she's 16) who has refused all help (all 18 pages of it just on fauna alone) and has insisted on poor husbandry practices (ignoring advice on other forums in reguards to her boa.)

just my two cents, but be wary of "head desk" syndrome here.

If you had been planning this for a while, you would know what you were breeding with, AND would have properly Quar.'d your male, there was just a thread on fauna about a BP that died due to stress of randomly being thrown in with females right after a trade.

Thank you for posting this, I was going to but decided against it on the off chance it was a different person (which I don't believe is the case here). The antics she played in that thread on Fauna was ridiculous: she needs to go back and learn how to properly care for these animals first and foremost and learn how to handle herself in a mature manner.
