    My boa won't eat

I got him off a guy about a month and a half ago and Iv fed him one mouse and it took him almost an hour to eat him. Iv tried every week to feed him for about three weeks but it got very annoying because I can't just leave him in there with a live mouse. The guy said he was a good eater but he won't now, Iv been watching his weight and I'm only posting now because he's starting to loose serious weight now. How can I get him to eat?

You'll have to give us more information before we can make any guesses.

    1. What's your husbandry like? Be as detailed as possible.

    2. What did the previous owner feed and how?

    3. Have you taken this boa to a qualified herp vet to determine if there is any underlying cause as to why he won't eat? Boas are typically garbage disposals and if one repeatedly refuses, there may be a medical issue involved.

So let us know and we'll go from there.....

    Re: My boa won't eat

I've never known a boa not to eat. The boas I've had would eat until they bust! If you have one that bad off you likely have serious husbandry issues, a very sick boa, or both. Post your setup and take him to the vet.

"Boa" and "won't eat" should never be in the same sentence. My boa eats like it's going out of style. And then begs for more. As said before there's probably something more going on. The first thing I would've done after getting him/her is go to a vet; my girl was from a rescue and even though she seemed perfectly healthy I still took her to the vet for a good once-over and fecal exam, just to be sure she didn't bring anything with her.
