Snake rack materials Question

ok so im thinking of building a 5 41qt tub rack. is plywood safe to use for the rack also im planing on painting it black would interior latex be harmfull to the snakes. i was gona use melamine but couldnt find it so i plan on using extra plywood i got taking up space in my garage.

Latex paint really isn't the best choice. You need something that will help with the humidity. Polyurithain would be better. Try to stick with acryllics and not anything oil based. Whatever you use make sure that it is completely dry and isn't putting off any fumes.

the person at the store told me that paint would also protect against humidity. i was also thinking of leaving the lids on the tubs would the humidity still affect the wood
