a lil confused on subtle morphs
okay folks im a little lost on some of the darker morphs and the ones that are very subtle. anywhere i can learn how to tell the difference? the chocolates, mochas, mystics, spectors, lace, opal, and such give me a heck of a time. theres plenty more that i dont get either but thats the short list. lol also I am wondering on the multi gene morphs how to identify certain things. like an ivory pastel, mojave spider pastel, pastel orange dream, and the such. ughhh morphs are awesome but im so lost on some of it. like im terrified to make certain pairings cause im worried i'll misidentify the hatchlings and screw someone out of certain genes they want and paid for. thanks for any and all the help everyone in here offers! bp.net and its patrons have been wonderful to me. ive learned a great deal in the short time ive been on here!

There is no way to answer this in a thread. You need to do searches on each morph and read up on them. Also try to get to shows and see them in person. There is no easier way to do it.
Knowledge is hard but rewarding.

I play a little "quiz" game with myself. On here, when people post pics I try to guess the morph before looking at the caption. I do the same at shows. I still don't do so well with the more subtle morphs, but when I was first getting into bps and couldn't even tell a lesser from a mojave, this really helped me learn. You just have to focus on the snake and not let your peripheral vision pick up the words.

ive got 3 local shows withing 2 hrs that i frequent and honestly theres rarely anything there that you dont see all the time. just saw my first sable in person on the 29th at the steele city expo in pa. that was the highlight of the day. I ended up buying it. lol I have john berrys book of designer morphs volume one and its already out dated. I got it within 6 months of it being out and i still refference it but as i said its outdated now. I check out WoBP huge morph list all the time and still just seems to leave me wanting more and they dont really have that great of a description for most of them. not looking for short cuts just solid places to gain knowledge! as I said in the original thread looking for some place to learn these things. Thanks

worldofballpythons.com
i still spend a lot of time on there checking out different morphs. I tell you, I still can't pick out a dot, daddy, bengal, tiger, X-treame, washout, or trick out of a line-up.

What I do is I gather pictures from the net, read articles that may include a description of their appearance, use the advance search here on Bp.net to look for more topics about a certain morph, ask people who works on the said morph (you can find alot here in Bp.net), and believe me there's alot here who's very willing to share their knowledge, then study them by myself. There is no reptile show here in the Philippines that's why I do researches for very subtle morph by myself to be familiarize and to know what to look for.
