I'm currently a college student pursuing a degree in biology that I would like to use to study herps once I graduate. This past summer I had an internship where I was researching colubrids and completely fell in love with snakes. Now that I'm moving off campus next year, I can finally have one as a pet.
I have wanted a Heterodon or Lampropeltis, but one of my friends is graduating and has a corn that she wants to sell. She wants to make sure it goes to someone that would take care of it, which is why she asked me.
The snake belonged to someone before her, so I don't know how old it is, but it has to be at least 3 years old. Since corns live to be about 20, it's still pretty young. She would like to sell it to me (it's an Orange Albino Corn) with the 40 gallon tank and other supplies/leftover bedding for $200. New 40 gallon tanks cost upwards of $100, and Orange Albinos are roughly $50 for babies.
So, as experienced snake owners, is $200 asking too much? Should I ask her to lower the cost, and if so, what would be appropriate?
