I've been having some health issues with January, my young Dumeril's boa (maybe 2 years old?). She got an RI and mouth rot - or the other way around. I took her to a very good local vet when I realized she was having problems, and he prescribed Baytril injections after doing a tracheal wash and taking cultures. I've been injecting her with the help of a friend, and after the last visit, the vet also said to put her on a nebulizer. So that's been helping, and though she still has a spit bubble now and then, she's a little more active again and now that I've been nebulizing her daily for 20 minutes, she is making less guttural noises. Her mouth rot seemed to have come back this past week, but after some dabs of chlrohexidine with a swab, that cleared up.

Now she's having trouble with her shed. Only the spectacles came off (thankfully), and she seemed to have rubbed off the old skin from her head. I gave her 48 hours and a humid box to help her out, but the shed is still on so I have her laying in an enclosed salad container with a 1/4" of water, near her her heat lamp. She seems cozy in there, but I'm hoping when I take her out after a couple of hours that the old skin will just peel right off.

I have her on plain newspaper, clean her tank while she's nebulizing, clean and disinfect her water bowl daily, and give her an injection every two days as prescribed. She's better than how she was on her first vet visit, but how long does this stuff take to clear up? What else can I do make her healthy again?

Thinking back, she did get sick about a week after I first had her, but that seemed to clear up after I raised her temps a few degrees. Never had other issues until now. I'm kind of venting, but I'm also open to any suggestions or advice. The vet saw her last week and felt that she had definitely improved, and just needed more time to fully recover. I'm taking her back this coming week for another check-up.

I'm sure I'm just being impatient, but it's really frustrating to have a sick pet.
