    Weigh in.

Just looking for some opinions. I have had my BP for almost 6 weeks. I got her and the breeder said she was 274g at 7 months old. I have only had her eat twice for me. She didn't feed for the first two weeks. Then she ate two weeks in a row and now she hasn't eaten in a week and a half. She has gone poop since her last meal.

I weighed her tonight and she weighs 273g on my new digital scale.

Is this ok? She hasn't gained anything at all yet but she was pretty plump in the pics the breeder gave me and he said she just ate a day or two ago.

I think she is ok but just wanted to check.

How often should I weigh her?
Should I weigh her a couple days before feeding that week?

It's pretty usual for ball pythons to stop eating or not eat as often as you would like. We weigh our snakes every feeding, Wednesday/Thursday but that is a tad bit obsessive. As long as she isn't loosing a substantial amount of weight and looks good she should be fine. Double check your temps, humidity and her behavior. If all that pans out you should be good.

We have a small female python now who will only eat live mice and only every other week. All the other snakes eat happily once a week but she isn't interested. She doesn't act hungry and loves her warm side. She apparently is watching her figure lol

LOL I hope mine doesn't give a &*^% about her figure. Hopefully she cares about my mental well being.

Temps and humidity are bang on. 90-93 on hot side and 78-80 on the cool. Humidity is 55-63% She seems to be out looking for food more the last couple days. She is using both hides a lot and looks good. I am learning not to worry too much but I am used to a bearded dragon (RIP) and a leopard gecko that eat no matter what.

I still think the rats were too big but now I have a scale so I will go by weight. I think I will bring it with me to the pet shop when I buy the next feeder. She acted hungry the last two attempts but no strike and then she got scared a couple times and that is when I stopped. That was about 20 minutes in. She was tracking it pretty good and going towards it but she didn't build up the confidence to strike. Oh well try again next week. I feel better having a scale and knowing she hasn't lost weight. Considering there is nothing in her belly she may have gained a little but hard to say when the breeder weighed her.

    Thanks for the response.
