    Weekend Rescues

This weekend I picked up a three "rescue" snakes from a friend of a friend. They are going through hard financial times and are currently facing foreclosure, so they are having to rehome their pets in case they ultimately are evicted. I offered to take in the pythons, who have apparently been on a maintenance (if that) diet for several months. They seemed to be in pretty good condition for the most part, but I can't wait to get them situated and get some good meals in them. Here are a couple pics for now. I will get more once they are settled and eating. Their names will all be changed too when I decide what scheme to use...

I picked up two normal balls. The first one (pictured here) is "Snakey", who is a normal female, weighing in at 1749 grams. I don't know when she last ate, but I know she needs a few meals and a good quarantine period before I try to add her into the breeding group.

The second normal ball came to me as a "possible female". She's came in the same situation, eating a maintenance diet at best for the past year or so, still weighing in at 1434 grams. She popped female on first attempt, but I'll try again before labeling "her". She came to me with some minor scale rot on her belly, so I gave her a betadine wash and put her on paper towels to try to clear that up. I don't have any pics of her right now because I was more concerned with cleaning her up than snapping pictures...

The third is a first for me. He is a male Iriyan Jaya Carpet Python. His name was Pincer I believe. I was told that after several attempts, he refuses to convert to rats. He's been eating 5 adult mice per sitting, but hasn't been offered food in 2.5 months. Even still, when I had him out to look over him and snap a couple pics and get weight, he was really sweet, just very curious and exploring like crazy. I've got him settling in and I will be offering him a rat in a couple days...

Anyway, just wanted to share the newest additions to my ever-expanding zoo. I'll try to get some good updated pics once they've settled and eaten, and once the second bp has healed... Thanks for lookin!
