Can an adult female Bredli Carpet Python be safely handled by a single person? Or do they get too big?

Also are are Bredlis calmer/less nippy than JCPs? I really want to get a bigger python and I really think a carpet python is the ticket. Which type of carpet python do you like or recommend the most.

For the most part all of the carpet subspecies are similar in disposition (there are differences but overall about the same)

Even the bigger carpets can be handled by one person because of their body build (very slender compared to something like a Boa of equal length.

If you are looking for something bigger: Jungle, Bredli, Diamond, and Coastals are what you are looking for. I really like my 75% Coastal 25% Jungle (coastal x coastal/jungle)

The next carpet that I pick up is going to be a Bredli I just love their colors/pattern.

Are Bredli's sexually dimorphic? Also is there a pattern or coloration difference between the male and females?

Females do get bigger than males, not sure on the color/pattern part

Well we all know the saying of not holding 6+ long snakes on your own. But I hold my 7+foot long carpet pythons by myself. I'm not endorsing it, I'm just saying I feel fine about it. If one of my larger carpets was to get some sort of feeding response and bite and wrap my arms or something I might be in a pickle. But usually if it's going to bite its just a bite and release.

I'll answer your questions to the best of my ability. Keep in mind while I do keep various carpet pythons, I don't keep bredlis.

Yes.

Some people will say yes. Some people will say no. I'm in the 'no' camp. Just about any carpet python can be nippy when young, but practically all will grow out of it. A commonly repeated generalization about bredlis is that as adults they are very placid. I cannot confirm nor deny this, but the only carpet pythons of any species/subspecies that have tagged me have been hatchlings. All the adult bredlis, coastals, jungles, diamonds, IJs, and various intergrades I have handled have given me no issues.

Are Bredli's sexually dimorphic?
It's hard to look at a given animal and tell whether it is male or female by sight alone, so generally no they are not.

Also is there a pattern or coloration difference between the male and females?
No.

Nick Mutton (inlandreptile.com) is probably THE guy to talk to in the states about bredlis. I highly recommend the book he co-authored, The Complete Carpet Python.
