Taming a Ball Python?

I got a young 2011 bumble bee ball python male. I've always wanted a bumble bee and when I got him was in awe at his beauty. However, I've had him for about a month and a half now and he seems really aggressive. Whenever I open his tank, just open the door not even go near him, he will strike at me so forcefully that he'll fall off whatever rock or branch he's on. I'm able to get him out and hold him, although he's very shy the whole time i'm holding him. But I was wondering if there is anything I could do to acclimate him better.

Young BPs can be very jumpy. They're pretty far down on the food chain at that size, and are programed for self protection.

My advise is to make sure your husbandry is spot on, and continue to handle him a couple times a week for about 10 minutes or so. You won't want to handle him within 48 hours after feeding, but other than that, just get him out a couple times a week.

As he get's older and larger, he should start to calm down.
