Ways to Raise Money for Rescues !!
Long story short my wife and I have been working with a dog rescue(Foster base rescue)(Whispering Woods Animal Rescue) who has been around for 3 years or so. After 6 months or so of working with them we have been a lot more involved and have been trying to raise money for the rescue for pulling dogs and money to transport, food, toys, blankets etc. She gets most of her dogs from South Carolina and Georgia. We are trying to figure out ways to raise money to keep this rescue going. If you guys know any rescues or do rescuing yourself and have some advice for us please let me know. Thanks A lot

BBQs. My aunt is heavily involved in her church and they haul a BBQ out, do chicken leg quarters with baked beans and slaw and gain lose to a $1000 each time. They did so well, one of her boys started BBQing chicken at businesses for lunch, and the employees order their lunches, and come out to get them in the parking lot at lunch hour. Make decent money doing it.
Raffles are fun too, but you have to check the legalities on it in your area. Check with area businesses(especially anything pet related) and have them offer a incentive in return for donations. I used to give $5 off(or 10%... whatever)the grooming fee if the client brought either food, towels or blankets etc to donate to the shelter. The shelter would send someone by to pick all the stuff when I called, or at a particular time.

You live in Philly. See if you can get a few athletes from one or more of your sports teams to come out and sell the autographs. The money you raise from autographs will go to the charity. Alot of athletes like to do this to make themselves look good lol so your chances are fairly good. You gotta make sure you advertise though a lil bit to get people showing up.

Ask a few restraunts to donate a percentage of their profit on such and such day.
My Lion Dance club hosted a few fundraisers successfully with this. We had a few local places give ~10-$20% of the profits from 3 different nights.
We plan on doing this again in the future.

Re: Ways to Raise Money for Rescues !!
Organize a dog wash! A local dog rescue group did that recently, and it was a huge success. They contacted a nearby pet supply store and got permission to set up their dog washing operation in a designated section of the parking lot. The store did the advertising about the dog wash, since it was to their benefit to have all those dog owners/potential customers show up. The dog wash was held on a Saturday morning, and the place was packed! It was a win-win situation for everybody. I went there, and it was pretty fun.
