When I incubate my eggs, I only put two small holes in the tub, one on each side, and put a sheet of glad press and seal wrap on the tub to seal it and then put the lid on.. Then, after the first month and a half of incubation I remove the glad press and seal wrap that I put on top of the tub before I put the lid on and put the lid back on for the rest of the incubation process. Also, I am not certain if you must leave the fan running 24 hours, but I do.

Re: holes in the egg container and fan question in the incubator

    Hi,

Typically I try not to put any holes in the egg container. I open it once a week or so for air exchange and to wipe down any excess moisture off the lid. I do have a hole on the lid of one of my egg containers so I can place a probe for a digital thermometer to make sure the temps are good. My fan runs 24 hours in the incubator since it's pretty big and needs the air movement to stay constant.

    Hope that helps.
