Red Stain, maybe blood? After Shedding?

My BP had a perfect shed, one piece, but I noticed this on the substrate when I took it out. Could this be blood?

The only explanation I can come up with is that maybe it's a bunch of squashed snake mites, he had snake mites a couple months ago.. but I haven't seen any for a long time, unless there was a bunch of them clustered together on his skin and they came off and were squished when he shed? I feel like that's a stretch though.. and there weren't any black dots or sign of mites.

I looked at his whole body to see any sign of injury and there is nothing, and no red/blood/whatever on his skin anywhere.

It's normal to see a little blood after a shed. So I wouldn't worry too much if you haven't seen anything wrong with your snake...

Happens sometimes after a shed, usually from the vent/spur area. Not a problem!!

Agreed. I see it every now and again as well and the snakes are fine.

To save space, another question. He has no retained eye-cap, but his eyes have a sort of translucent blue color around the edges, very different from blue eyes during shed. Is this normal? I'll try to get a picture of it later.

Maybe its cataracts or maybe I'm jumping to extreme conclusions.
