Has anyone had any females not stop eating after ovulation?

First off, this is my first attempt at breeding. I've witnessed all of my females lock at least a dozen times since november. Two look like they are building if not gravid in the belly, also they have this "glow" look. Also, none of my males quit eating but one. So this seems odd.

My question would be, have any of you ever had a female eat up until they lay?
If there is any more info needed, let me know!

    Thank you!

its not too common but its also not unheard of.
some ladies like to keep eating and MOST will not eat untill either after their eggs hatch or after a few weeks of being separated from them and washed off of the smell of their eggs from their enclosure and their bodies.

Once a Female gets 30mm+ sized follicles 9 times out of 10 will stop feeding. And if they still are feeding Ill limit their food to keep room for follicle growth.

Once they get close to ovy you should stop feeding, As it will only cause problems when eggs begin to grow smothering the internal organs.

All my females stop 1-3 months before ovy

Last year, I had a female eat the day before she laid....didn't even know she was gravid......looked like she just had a big poop in her...no triangle shape...nothing......granted, if I had of known she was due to lay, I would not have even fed her, but she did eat the day before....sheis the only female I have had eat after she ovulated......like Rich said, most stop eating on their own before they ovulate.....I have never had one stop 3 months before, but it is usually 2-3 weeks before.....

First off, thank you for the response! But I have another question. So if I have been feeding regularly, could it have kept the follicles from growing as fast as they should if at all? Because one of my girls is a garbage disposal, 2800 grams now. Everytime one of the other ones refused her meal I would just give her a second rat.

I think that giving them tons of food while they're building may just make them less likely to reabsorb follicles. Just an opinion, though.

So that would mean it would actually help you? I heard brian at BHB say he hammers food when he feels follicle growth. For what reason I don't know but it only makes sense in several ways.

So, keep it at 1 medium rat till they quit eating?

That's what I do. All but one of my females is off feed now, and most of them have moved onto the heat. Perfect coil over the heat tells me they're gravid.

(I have never been able to palpate follicles...I try every year...and I can't feel a thing, lol).

Just wondering but have you every had one go on heat when she turned blue? My het pied girl moved onto the heat as soon as she started into blue, but I never saw an ovy? So I'm not sure what is up but she stayed on heat until she shed then 2 days cold side back to heat. Male still happy to lock with her but he will breed anything and everything lol. Refused her first rat a few days ago about a week after shedding.
