My mom's 8 year old boxer had to get put to sleep last night. It started about 6 months ago, he started drinking massive amounts of water and having accidents in the house. Testing ruled out bladder and kidney problems and diabetes. Then he started to lose weight. Our 95 lb boy was down to 70 pounds this weekThen his eyes got these weird blisters in them, that eventually ruptured so I think he was blind for the last 2 weeks of his life. Then he had a minor stroke which left one of his ears and jowls uneven. I got a call from my mother at 8:30 am yesterday telling me that it was his last day, he had 3 seizures within an hour that morning, and it just wasn't fair to him. The vets believe it was something in his head, but MRI and CAT scan testing costed thousands of dollars, and then what? Cut open an 8 year old dog's head? It wasn't an option. My parents kept him comfortable for his last few weeks going down hill, and he got love every day. He was an embassador for rescue dogs. I will miss him dearly. He was my gentle giant, and one of the only furry critters I liked. Goodbye Nitro
