    possible neuro issue

So I called my vet to ask about some odd behavior I've witnessed over the past week or so. My Beansy has been "periscoping" as I call it or climbing an invisible wall then arching back. After he has reached as far out as he can go he goes back down then commences in this little "dance" or something that looks a bit like somebody with Parkinson's but just in the head not his whole body. The vet seemed very concerned and suggest I take the next available ASAP as he sounds as if he could be very ill so I made an appointment for 9 A.M. Is this true? What type of questions do I ask? I've never had so much as a cold in any of my animals. What could cause this? What are his chances?

I'm having a hard time picturing what exactly you are talking about, could you post a video of it?

First thing that comes to mind is if the snake is a spider morph as well.

    Re: possible neuro issue

I may be worried, but before I got too worried, I would do some research on here. First, how long have you had bp,what are tank set set ups, ie, temps, hot spot, cold spot, ambient, humidity, how old is bp, what kind of bp, how long have you had it, do you have appropriate hides? Could be a lot of factor weighing in here. What morph is it? Could be stress related, also I would make sure it is a herp vet, not a regular vet. As you could probably get better info here than from a vet not accustomed to herps and snakes. More info please....bps are quirky.

    Re: possible neuro issue

Just about anything from genetics to environment to pathogens can cause neuro problems, and without blood work it is almost impossible to determine what type of neuro issue it may be. Will you be able to get him to do the 'dance' for the vet? If not, the trip may be inconclusive. On two separate occasions I have had different snakes show neuro symptoms and both turned out to be nothing. Sometimes snakes can just be quirky, but it is definitely best to err on the side of caution.

Sorry guys should have mentioned its a burm not a ball. I was freaked out cause I thought it was just going to be some little quirk not a worst case scenario. I just emailed him out of curiosity cause he see's my birds and usually answers my questions through email promptly. I also noticed he had recently written an article for my local herp society. I have lost my camera I can't even do pictures.

I'm aware of the spider wobble. It looks very similar just maybe a bit more jerky and it looks almost like he can't focus on what he's looking at or a head bob with some side to side thrown in. Then I would describe the reaching as like trying to reach the RHE or maybe the vent. The reaching doesn't really worry me except I've only seen the head bob after he does this. I witnessed it twice in three days. Hot side is 89.7 cool is 75.3 humidity is 47%.

So i just got back from the vet and we did a direct fecal exam. They couldn't get enough to float it. They wanted to take blood today but I chose to wait until I can get a large enough fecal sample to do a float and also see how he progresses. He does seem to exhibit some strange behavior but is able to right himself normally and is feeding and his normal angry self. Some of the strange behavior is the head wobble and air climbing but also last feeding he took a thawed rat constricted it then dropped it and lost it. I had to go in there and poke at it with my tongs which is not a fun or safe situation. Has anyone experienced this or heard of this? he said it might be a liver problem as he thinks he's to young to be showing signs of IBD.

Also should this maybe be in a Big snake or maybe Health questions section? I'm still new here so I'm not really sure of where I should be putting stuff.
