Rack preference?
I searched "rack" and um.. wow lots of topics So, I figured I'd ask (if it's been asked, I'm sorry)... does anyone have a rack preference? I just ordered an Animal Plastics rack on a strong recommendation from a breeder, but I see that RBI seems to make some decent racks. And then there's the Freedom Breeders. Any one preferred over another? Thanks!

They're all good.
If I had the money and space, I would probably have to go with freedom breeder. However, the Animal Plastics and RBI racks work just fine as well and look more home friendly than the FB. The FB in my opinion looks rather industrial, but gives a professional feel.

I prefer RBI racks because they are what I'm used to, and I've never had a problem with them. I'm sure AP makes a nice rack, but I don't have any experience with them.
Freedom Breeders give you a lot of flexibility to expand, but for me, I just don't need that much rack.
One of the things I really like about the RBI Sweater Box rack is how easy it is to find extra Iris MCB-L tubs. I can get them online or at most Office Max Locations.

You will find a lot of rack builders out there. There are too many to list. It breaks down into what you are willing to spend on one. If I had the money to spend, Sure I would buy a Freedom Breeder or ARS Caging, But thats only if I had it to spend. I have several Boaphile Plastic racks and there great for the money that is. The Animal plastic racks are very nice also if you want to spend some money again. What I have found and what I am currently working on is several DIY racks, If your handy enough this route is the best cheepest way to get started. While I don't take anything away from the wonderful rack builders out there. With a DIY rack you have limitless possibilites out there to really customize your rack to what you need and plan to do in the future. I'm by no means talking you out of a rack you choose-Just giving my 2 cents on what I have found to be true in this field. I have several racks I have built a few years ago still running today with no problems, And I plan to make several more very soon(infact after i'm on here for a bit I will be going to lows to pick up lumber and supplies to start my new project, A CB 70 style rack!!!) But all this is my 2 cents, AP makes a great rack so you didn't go wrong there. If you want to look, The DIY forum here and you tube are great places to start looking for ideas.....Have a good one.

Ive got to agree with Thomas. I use the Canadian version of the RBI 12 quart rack and it has served me quite well so far. The PVC seems like it will last much longer than melamine. I also really like that RBI provides the tubs for you, as well that they are IRIS tubs, which means they are flat at the bottom and very easy to clean. And pretty sturdy as well.
Ive heard amazing things about animal plastics too, and I wish I could get one, but I just live too far for it to be worth it. Boaphile also makes some amazing racks, but Ive heard you should be prepared for a decent wait time. In the future, if my breeding ever gets to the level where I could afford a freedom breeder rack, I think those would be my preferred rack system. They look so nice and clean!
Edit: Vision also makes some really nice tubs, I would highly consider building a rack just to put some vision tubs in it, if they shipped to Canada.

I use freedom breeders and vision racks. I have some melamine racks for quarantine. I love the freedom breeders. Best rack there is but if you dont have enough animals to justify them then its like utters on a bull. Ap racks are very well built and seems to be the status quo on this site. Therefore you will get alot of feedback about them here.

I prefer animal plastic, for the quality the ability to have rack from 3 to 10 shelves which allow me to configurate based on my room (which has vaulted ceillings), the price and a great customer service.
Also need something light enough to carry upstairs on my own and easy enough to assemble on my own quickly.

I prefer Animal Plastics for adult racks--they look good, they're easy to clean, and very durable. You can't beat the price (literally--if you know if any company that has, please let me know).
I use Vision for my hatchlings--their racks are the most economical I could find for the number of slots, they're easy to maintain, AND the long hatchling bins are suitable for snakes up to 6 months (or longer for slower-growers). I like Vision's bins a lot, and got their CB-70 replacement bins for my AP CB-70 rack.

There are 2 rack brands that I would use. Animal Plastics and ARS.
Animal Plastics racks are made from 1/2" thick PVC and will hold in heat and humidity very well.
ARS racks have a metal frame with a screen over where the tubs are. This style or rack absolutely needs a heated room.
