adult ball python from bhb
My adult ball python from bhb I noticed will not use a hide. She will lay on around or next to it but never in it. Now I know bhb does not normally use hides with there ball pythons. I also just inquired of her age. She is roughly 4 years old. Josh told me that she never really refused a meal. But he also informed me of there tub sizes. It is like 15% of the 106 quart sterilite she is in now... so she is in a bigger home. All the temps are fine measured with a temp gun and monitored with a prob thermometer. I have her on brown packing paper actually instead of newspaper like I normly use. This is the first bp I have ever seen not use a hide. Do you think I should keep the hide boxes in there I could I try and see how she does with out them... oh yeah her cage is between my bed and the wall on the floor so she don't get much traffic through. Thinks for the advice in advence

None of my adult bp's use hides, and trust me in the early days I tried many times. I found out they spent more time pushing them around then hiding under them. Another question I have is the container colored where it dims the outside light or is it totally clear? I found that with opaque or fully colored containers I guess give them a more burrow like feel with subdued light. Keep us posted,

I would leave at least one hide in there. If she uses it, fine, if not, the what's the harm.
Since she hasn't been with you long enough for a shed cycle, it's too early to draw many conclusions about her behavior. You never know, she may discover a like for hides "late in life."

Re: adult ball python from bhb
IMO, a 106 quart tub is way to large for a ball python. I used to keep my adult females in either 32 or 41 quart tubs.

My adult female is from bhb also and would not use her hide for about the first month but now she uses it at least a couple times a week, usually after a meal she will sit under it with her head hanging out the opening for a day or two.

None of my adults use hides either, couldnt hurt to leave it in there for a while though.
