DIY PVC structures?

I've heard some discussion of building climbing structures and cage decor out of PVC, something I've always been interested in. Any tips / suggestions on what size PVC to use, etc? I'd be building them for an old and tired ball python who has no interest in climbing unless she's outside on a sunny day (but I still like to give her something; if nothing else for extra security / hiding places), a very heavy and very rambunctious boa who loves to climb and a smaller boa who would spend all day on a perch were she given better perches than she currently has.


Any ideas or suggestions? Or better yet... any pictures?

I haven't seen much with PVC... but I have seen may different setups/ techniques to create climbing structures, waterfalls, and full realistic backgrounds using foam and then some sort of puddy or plaster to cover it to make it hard and sculpt it, then paint it.

there is a lady who had a bunch of step by step videos for some of the setups she was doing, but i can't seem to find the videos.

i don't know if this is exactly what you were looking for, but its a place to start... and theres many more videos on youtube, just do a search for custom snake setups for ideas or DIY snake/reptile enclosure background/decor that will give you step by step instructions... even better then pictures!

haven't done a project like this myself, but i'd love to do one soon.

That's really neat, thanks for the link! I don't have any naturalistic / display cages though, I'm mainly looking for a climbing substitute for driftwood; I've been having mold issues lately (no idea why, I've been using the same driftwood / branches for years and I've never had issues). But some styrofoam structure could work for my longicauda... I'll look into it. Thanks again!
