    How often to breed

I thought I knew what I was doing, but now I am unsure. How often am I supposed to breed my female. I read over and over about 3 days on 3 days off, or some interval such as that. But I just read somewhere that is for males only. Like if I am breeding him to multiple females. I read that the female only needs to lock every 4-6 weeks. Is this true. I have only read it in one place. So just say I am only breeding one male to one female. How often should I let them lock?

I would place them together on your 3 day on and 3 day off routine. You only need 1 lock to do it, but I like ti hedge the odds in favor whenever possible, so keep pairing until ovulation.

You'll probably get a lot of different answers but once I see a breeding I don't introduce a male to that female for three weeks. Works for me...

If you dont have any other females to breed him to I dont see what it could hurt to throw them together again. I would anyway to just to make sure. Ive also heard of people throwing the males in there all the way to the end or to at least ovulation.

OK so I just started breeding to and I read the same thing and paired a male and a female and just kept those two together 3 days on and 3 days off. They locked about 10-15 times that I saw. My husband being a big kid was gelouse but I guess I way stacked the odds in my favor or my two first timers are freaks

Okay so pairing them up on the 3 on 3 off schedue wont hurt anyhting? Also as a point of curiousity. Say i had three males with one female. A spider in December, a normal in January - February, and I pair up a pastel in March forward. No ovulation to this point so is there a chance any offspring will be spiders? If she doesnt ovy for another month would there be a chance any were sired by the normal? I hope that makes sense. Basically can the sperm be stored and for how long?

It wont hurt anything but why exhaust your male if you female doesnt have large follicles and isnt close to ovulating? Yes, sperm can be retained sometimes for more than a year. If your introducing multiple males anyone of them can be the sire. Think of it this way, if your just starting introductions you only need a lock every month or so but when they start building and their follicles are getting closer to the point of ovulation you may want to introduce the male every week. You can do it however you like but why waste your time and exhaust your male when the female is nowhere near ovulating? Just a thought. Good Luck

Only problem is I am just starting and havent figured out how to check for follicles. I have tried, but im just not sure i get it. The spider was introduced to her before I got her. The normal was the only guy I thought would lock to her. Just this week though I put the pastel in with her and he locked. So I'm guessing I will continue with just the pastel from here out. If I notice any signs of him wearing out I will pull him. I just wanted to know how long sperm will stay and how often I should pair her. The more I read the less I know. Thanks for the help so far everyone.
