    frozen mice help...

    ive been feeding mu BP frozen mice for months now with no issues. but i recently went out and got a temp gun so im sure that i am completely thawing the mice out. my question is... what temp should the mice be when i feed them to him? what temp am i looking for?

    I heard that a rats normal body temp is 102-103, Dunno about mice though.

    When heating rats so far I heat to 110 externally I touch them and make sure they are warm. Remember the infrared thermometer only measures fur temp which cools much faster than the internals. So heat it up slowly then watch how fast the temps drop with the gun. The fur will cool very fast while the internals will stay warm for a while.

    The temp gun won't help in determining if they're thawed; the skin of the mouse may reach room temp while the core is still frozen. Always check by poking it with your finger--if it's squishy all the way through it's thawed. Then when you heat it up you want to aim for a surface temperature of 100*.

    Definitely I forgot to say in my post I wait for them to cool to 100f before I offer. Seems he has a better feeding response.
