    Housing Question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it be fine to keep my rack system in the Garage??
Im assuming it would be because as long as you have a thermostat keeping your temps right it shouldn't make a difference where the rack is kept.
    Correct??

probably not, the air temperature must be kept close to 80 degrees when using a rack. The heat tape used in racks does not effect air temperature, so the room must be heated if it ever gets below 75 degrees. you will also have issues with the garage getting too hot in the summer.

If your like I (and others) then your heating closes off at night. Unless you live somewhere hot then the nights will probably drop somewhere bellow your snakes comfort zone for night temperatures.

In short, don't unless you can keep proper heat 24/7

Probably fine. Unless there are a lot of strong chemicals or other substances in the air/walls that the snakes will be breathing constantly, or it gets really cold in there at times. I've never heard anyone say that you can't keep snakes in the garage, and I've heard plenty of people say they do.

As long as your garage is temp controlled like mine is, you should be fine.

Remember, you need to keep your ambient temps up in the 75-80 range. The UTH won't do anything to heat the air.

You can only house snakes in a garage if the garage is climate controlled. otherwise it is a very bad idea. there is a thread from a month or so back where some kid had his BP in his parents garage and it ended up dieting because it got too cold at night even with a heat lamp which does more to heat the air in an enclosure than heat tape will ever do.

I see. Well, certainly if ambient heat is going to be an issue, it would not be a good idea. I don't have a garage and haven't for a long time, but now that I think about it it does get pretty chilly in some garages.

If your garage is climate controlled, then it's just another room in your house with a bare floor and a big door. You might be able to make that work.

I've never owned a house with a climate controlled garage, and I would not try and maintain a BP rack or tank in that environment.

I think climate controlled garages are a regional thing. Every house I've lived in has had it unless of course it was a detatched garage.
