    Oh, Animal Planet...

Man-Eating Super Snake is on... need I say more?

At first I was frustrated hearing all the fear-mongering crap spouted off, but then I decided to take it a little more lightly and got a great laugh out of it.

They showed a reptile expo when talking about a "recent pet python phenomenon," and repeatedly hovered over tables of Dumerils and colubrids in deli cups... pet pythons, hm??

They also talked about a kid in Africa who was killed by a rock python... apparently he was walking with a few of his friends and the python attacked him. So the friends all pitched in to help kill the snake and save him, right? Nahhh. They climbed up the nearest tree and watched it devour him!!

I was just about to post this!
While some of the facts are true, the way they're presenting it is wrong. They're using scare tactics. Even the tone they're using gives a suspenseful and dramatic air.
    Horrible.....

And I hate how they do the dramatization of the rock python killing the boy child in the US.... They make it sound like a horror story... yes it's a sad story, but the enclosure wasn't secure. And the boy was sleeping in the same room as the rock python on the floor (in the living room?).... So in the end, it's the parents' fault for not taking responsibility...

Their new slogan thing (or new since the last time I watched the channel itself, probably 5 years ago) "Surprisingly human" isn't all that far off. Started watching a show on my netflix streaming and ended up turning it off for something else because I wasn't impressed at all. Don't even remember what it was Doesn't matter though, they've strayed from being any sort of an educational channel for a long time

They did say that Ball pythons are docile and make good pets. The only positive thing I've ever heard them say about snakes....that's about it though....

Sucks that AP has gone down so much. I used to love it back when they did a lot of their wildlife documentaries. Now its all scare tactic shows and stuff about humans...

The Animal Planet line up today was excellent. I believe it was Man Eating Super Snake, something else and then two episodes of Rattlesnake Republic back to back. It's we hate snakes day!

    1.0 Green Tree Python
    1.0 Kenyan Sand Boa
