Abnormal poop/pee?
I have had a 7 month old normal BP for 2 months & all has been fine...
He eats an adult mouse every 6 days & has been having wet/solid urates & so far, pretty solid poop on a regular basis.
After finding a normal (harder) poop in his hide, (he ate 3 days ago) I had him out while cleaning it & all of a sudden I felt him pee all over me. No problem, right?
Then, I smelled the WORST smelling poop ever, worse than my dog.
It was semi-solid, wet & absolutely floored me as to the sheer AMOUNT...I was grossed out, so started washing it off me, took off my shirt & noticed in the wet (urine?) area, there was an orange squiggly thing...looked like mouse parts? It wasn't moving..
I read where sometimes yellow squigglies come out in urates..Not too sure if this was from poop or pee.
He's my first BP & I searched all the forums but couldn't find anything about the orange squiggles...
Everything else in great with him...not too sure of his weight, but he is gaining & is about 2 foot long now. He sheds in 1 piece (humidity is spot on for both the shed/off shed times) and his temps run from 95 or so on the hot side to maybe 75-80 on the cool. He's in a 55-gallon & has all kinds of things to climb on (pvc, branches, etc) He's up all night "playing" so I'm pretty sure he's fairly happy & healthy.
It's just this massive poo & the orange things that bother me.
Any thoughts? Normal? Thank you for anything you can tell me.

95 is just a bit warm, 88-92 is better.
Anyway back on topic, I see what you are talking about in a few of my BP's every now and then. Nothing to worry about... Nasty though.

Thank you...
As for the temps...I should have said that's between the eco-earth & the aspen bedding I have for him. Temps are closer to 90 in his hide on top of all the aspen. It took over a month to get him content with the temps!

Ok, I'm assuming that you are using a Under Tank Heater then? If so is it on a thermostat?

Internal parasites maybe? If you see it again, take photos.

Re: Abnormal poop/pee?
Yes...Reptitherm uth on a thermostat set at 98...runs about 95 on top of the layer of eco-earth, then aspen bedding is on top.
Hopefully he doesn't do it again. All other poop's been pretty normal up til this one, but from what others say, the amount & smell are pretty normal.
I was just wondering about that orange squiggly thing I saw...thougth it may have been something from the mouse...I will definitely scrutinize everything from now on & closely watch him. And photograph any "beauties" he leaves!

Where is your thermostat probe? I'm worried about how hot the bottom of the tank is. (some BP's will dig into their substrate and if the glass is too hot your snake could get burned). I always suggest using a 1/2" or less thick layer of substrate when using a UTH.

Re: Abnormal poop/pee?
The probe is inside his warm hide under the aspen, but firmly pressed onto the 1/2" or so of eco-earth. It's been like this for about 5 weeks now & he seems to be settled in nicely to this temp setup..
I've read where too warm temps can cause brain damage, etc...and I do NOT want to hurt him in any way. So far in the 2 months he's been with us, he's just pretty chill...climbing & slithering around. No burrowing yet..he likes to hang on his branches under either red heat lamp though..

Oh...I do lift up & clean under his hides & make sure everything is good under them about every other day (cleaning up the poo he does drop inside them! yuck.)

As long as the thermostat probe cannot be moved by your snake you will probably be fine.
