mites
I am looking at buying a spider BP from a young kid on craigslist for really cheap that he just got from a breeder h only thing is that he said it has q minor case of mites by is still eating and everything besides he mites. I personally have never had a mite problem so I was wondering the process and level of difficulty and time it would be able to clear this up if I purchase the snake

Re: mites
Get a can of Provent-A-Mite from pro-products.com. That will take care of the mites. I would make sure to treat all of your enclosures, because the mites will spread rapidly. There is no such thing as a "minor" mite problem.

I don't actually have the snake so none of mine have mites so I want to clean him as best as possible then move to a totally new enclosure when I get him tomorrow

Re: mites
If you just want to try an clean them off of the snake, there are some products that are usually available at pet stores. One is called Reptile Relief and I think the other is called Mite Off.
I still recommend ordering a can of Provent-A-Mite to have on hand in case you need it. It is used to treat the enclosure and furnishings, NOT the snake or water bowl directly. It is pretty decisive in the battle against mites...

provent-a-mite is good but some that i've found that works is mixing nixx lice medication into a gallon of distilled water. learned this from another snake forum and its worked well for me

I think Mite Off is useless. I picked up a bottle the other day, found a live mite and sprayed it, after it dried, it walked away ! But today i picked up a bottle of Nix and will give that a try.

I use mite off as well as PAM, PAM for the enclosure and mite off for the snake. It works well...

Re: mites
Sticking him in a tub of lukewarm water for 20min or so will drown a good number of the mites. But no treatment directly to the snake will do any good unless you're treating the enclosure with something like PAM.

Re: mites
Is a good price worth bringing mites home? I'd keep looking...
