    Clown or Morph het. Clown?

I'm having a hard time deciding what to get first.
I've been looking at clowns and het. clowns. My prospective project is to breed BEL complex clowns and combos.

Would it be recommended to start off with a clown female or a morph het. clown female? I'd rather not start off with a morph clown due to personal preference. And I'm not going to worry about a male for another year or so....

What are you opinions on this? Any input would be appreciated.

I would go with a clown female then get a morph het clown male down the road.

I forgot to mention... I know a few breeders who have clown males and may put them out on breeder loan. So I'm also putting that into consideration...

Personally, I'd get a morph het clown female (or a few different morph het clown females) and a male clown.

I think a clown female would be the best choice, as you can then get several morph het clown males (for less) and create all the different varieties you want. Males take less time to raise up.

    Morph het clown females!!

and not just because we are making a bunch either, lol.

Clown males are dropping in price slowly and by the time the morph het clown female(s) get to size you might be able to afford a pastel clown male to put to them.

Re: Clown or Morph het. Clown?

You really can't go wrong with either one. Females never become obsolete. A visual female clown is the perfect mate for a new morph het clown male. A morph het clown female is the perfect match for a pastel clown male.

I would go for morph het females, then get a visual male. If you have let's say a pastel/super pastel het clown, lesser her clown, mojo het or what ever . So four het morph females to pair with a visual male. That's four clutches of eggs and all different morph clowns.
