My Zola finally outgrew her baby hides. She's growing up. So, just upgraded.
New hot/cold hides, and a new humid hide. Her first hides were Dollar Tree plastic bowls with a door cut in and edges melted smooth. I did the exact same thing this time, just the next size up. I plan on getting her the nice heavy duty Reptile Basics hides when she gets closer to her adult size, but while she's growing like a weed, I will just keep getting her bowls in ascending sizes.
If any of you are considering a vision enclosure, this is what they look like set up. The light comes from a lamp I have on a table behind the enclosure. I only turn it on when I need to see in there, otherwise it is off for her privacy. That is my only big complaint about the vision enclosures is they are very dark if you actually want to see your snake cruising around. But, ball pythons do not do much cruising in the first place, and they love the dark, which makes vision enclosures perfect for them.
Cool side. Everything looks wet because I just gave it a good mist. I don't have central heat in my apartment, just one of those wall heaters. Drains humidity in the whole room as soon as I turn it on. Lame.
Warm side! I totally switched from the old to the new hide really sneakily because I felt like I was taking away a beloved childhood blanket.. I lifted the old one off of her and she was stuffed in there so good she just spilled out in a pitiful little pile. haha. Then I just plopped the new one down on top of her and she shuffled around in it and poked her head out to try and figure out what just happened, but ultimately accepted it.
Her humid hide is the thing with an orange lid in the back. Just a tupperware with moss, not very exciting.
Had to do a close up, she is just too adorable.
And just for fun: playing in my sweatshirt pocket. Too cute.
