    Laying Flex Watt

I just finished building my rack and I'm planning on laying down my flex watt on friday. My question is, how do I lay; do I put it on top of the heat tape and then on the edges to keep it in place, or do I lay ut flat against the melamine and just tape the edges to keep it in place. I've seen it done both ways but I want to make sure.

I run the foil tape exactly half width ~1" on the front edge and about ~1" of the rear edge of the tape. I use 2" tape. I have some shots of my racks in my gallery if you need any pics. Msg me if my post doesn't make sense and I'll help how I can.

    Regards,

    B

Thanks Guys, so I'll just do the edges. Since nobody responded to one of my other post, would one of you guys be able to tell me how many inches you would use for a 35in tub? Like what's the amount of heat tape used per tub?

Well, you want to be able to have a temp gradient. What size heat tape are you using? If you're using 11" then obviously a foot or so on one half of the tub would work. If you're using smaller then you might want a longer strip.

    35" tub should be a 41qt... I use 12" of 11" flex.
I tape all 4 sides with 1/2 tape overlap just like others.
I do TRIPLE up the front edge with 1/2, then 3/4 then 3/4 coverage to serve as a "sacrificial" surface. I have yet to notice any wear on the tape from the tubs BUT I figure it is better to be safe and maybe last longer.

Correct it is a 41, so I'll cut it for a foot long. So my heat tape will be 12 inch by 12 inch. Does that sound correct?

I lay it flat and use Scotch heavy duty packing tape to secure to the racks. And I replace the tape ever so often when needed.

11" tape is only 11" wide so 12x11 OR if its straight line 11" from Reptile Basics it should be 32 lines.
