    feeding problem again

I had posted about this snake before. She would strike and constrict every time, but usually end up not eating it. She has a very strong "strike and constrict" response, but usually 2 times out of 3, the rat is left there the next day.

I was suggested that it may be that I fed too often, or that i fed too big a prey. I have tried too feed once every 10 days instead of every 7. Same thing. I tried downsizing the prey, same thing.

I wonder how I can adjust my feeding schedule to suit her? I know she does her thing and I have to adjust to her, but I don't even know what she wants.

Hi, I have a young BP something like her. What i do is offer, once it strikes and constrics, ill shake the F/T prey to simulate a dying rat. After the snake lets go, and does not eat it, ill put the prey back in hot water, and offer again. After about 2 or 3 times of doing this, it will finaly take it and eat it. It has gotten better over time. Usualy i just need to do the routine once before he'll eat.

If she's getting skinny and you're desperate try a African soft fur. I find those rats though to be kind of like candy to a kid. Once you give them one that's all they'll take. But that's just from past expierence.

At first the few times this happened she did take it when I heated it and gave it again, but not eat it. Now she don't take it the second time offered. It seems she will always strike, but only eat when ready to eat. Most you know if they want to eat because if they dont they dont strike.

I just want to know what schedule is best for her.

She's not getting skinny. She in fact gained 30 grams in the last few weeks and slowly gaining weight. I dont worry about her not eating enough I just can't figure out a schedule to fit her so I don't waste all these rats.

By the way Mr Spooky what morph if any is yours? I have an experienced friend who tells me that albinos have a tendency to do that, and mine happens to be an albino.
