    Trick Ball is a Codom

Listed as and thought to be a Dom gene, has now been proven to be a Codom. Keven Winter has provided me with this picture of the Super Trick out of the Liesen Line. From what he is telling me, it's getting brighter with age.

    Enjoy

Liesen Line Trick Ball and Lesser Trick Ball

The "super trick" is a yellow snake? lol. Maybe he sent you the wrong pic o_O.. Doesn't look like the tricks i've seen, nor does it look like the pastel trick pictures i've seen

I've only seen the Lesser Trick and Trick in person. When I was talking to him, he told me that it was a bright yellow snake before he sent me pictures the next day. From what he told me, Kevin Winter and his partners on the project were hoping it wasn't going to be an all white snake. I'm not sure if this super form is specific to the Liesen Line or not. In his email back to me appoving that I share the photo, he specifically says "The Liesen Line Trick is definitely codminant." It may be that just this line produces this form of Super Trick?

You sure that isn't a Super Pastel Trick? Or something along those lines?

I emailed Kevin Winter with some questions and I got this reply:

"The parents are a normal and a black pastel. I think Gary Liesen still has them but I do not have any pics. It is possible that the first mutation started in these snakes.

It appears that the codom gene for trick makes yellow just like the codom gene for yellow belly makes ivory. As we know, many codoms make variations of white snakes which still blows my mind. I am sooo glad that a super trick is not a white snake.

I am betting that the yellow in the super trick is xanthism. My trick lesser has much more yellow than a lesser and I bet a super trick lesser wil be a very yellow animal."

This just isn't making sense to me. The picture you have posted looks like a pastel. Not even a super "tricked out" pastel. Not say it isn't a super trick, but I would like to see the parents.

His response explains how they isolated the "trick" gene. It doesn't explain the yellow snake in the picture.
