What are you using?
As long as your temperatures and humidity is right I doubt that there is an issue.

Re: sitting on top of hide???
well my local pet shop closed so i switched from orchid bark to fir bark.... and he has always displayed stress signs when i change his substrate

Not my first choice of substrate but none the less shouldn't cause any issues.

Re: sitting on top of hide???
why? what is wrong with it... i mean like in your opinion... and what do u use... i am all for others opinions on what substrate is absolutely ideal for my BP

I just don't like bark in general (or wood shavings). It is too hard to clean/change and I feel it is less sanitary. Wood bark/shavings makes it harder to see things like mites plus with the cages that I use it would make my humidity go through the roof (stays at a constant 60% without misting)
I have used aspen, paper towels, butchers paper, and currently I am using corrugated wrap.
I am really liking the corrugated wrap because it looks better and is more absorbent than paper towels/butchers paper as well as being much easier to moniter and change than aspen.

Re: sitting on top of hide???
oh ok i see... i use bark because i have a open screen top that is 2/3 covered with plastic wrap so i kinda need the bark to hold moisture

That's completely understandable. I don't think that bark substrates are bad or anything like that, they just aren't for me.
