How long is the gestation period for ball pythons?

That is, what is the duration of time between fertilization and hatching out of the egg? Or at least: what is the time between fertilization and laying?

    Thanks!

I'm not sure if anyone can tell you when she is fertilized. Your best bet is to start counting down from the day she ovulates, if you catch that.

Time from ovulation to laying: Around 44 days, but it's not exact.
If you catch the ovulation, a couple weeks later the female will shed, and then will lay about a month later.
Incubation: 50 to 60 days, or thereabouts.

I usually start setting my incubators up when I see females coiled on the heat, and lying around on their backs.
I don't bother counting. I guess I like the surprise of seeing that perfect little igloo in the bin.

Re: How long is the gestation period for ball pythons?

First clutch this season took 4 mos 5 days from beginning to pair to lay. And it was roughly 84 days from starting to pair to ovy, than 13 days after that pre lay shed then 30 days exactly to lay...

Honestly, the only can only start counting with any kind of accuracy after you see an ovulation. Before that, youre just guessing (and praying to the bp gods really hard )

Not sure, are they glowing and have they been showing building behavior?, if so then going off feed may mean that ovulation is not far off. Just keep pairing till you see ovy or they are noticeably gravid.

Ovulation is the point where the follicles/eggs are moved into the oviduct to be fertilized so ovy would be the obvious point to start counting gestation periods, like the op said its likely to be 45 days or so after ovulation give or take. Then another 50-60 in the incubator till they hatch.
