    Purchased a Fireball Python today

Hello everyone new to owning a snake so all the help and input well be great. I purchased a fireball a few days ago. Snake has some really great color. I believe he was born sometime Nov.2011.Purchased a snake rack and just waiting for it to be built so right now just have it in a exo terra cage. I have a couple questions right now Im just using a 100 watt bulb during the day and a heat pad at night until the snake rack is built is that a good idea?

do you have something controlling them? depending on the size of the cage, a 100 watt could get way too hot, and without some kind of dimmer or thermostat on the uth (heat pad), they can easily reach 130 degrees

a 100 watt is way too hot for something that small, it will easily get 115+ at the floor. and again, if the uth is plugged directly into the wall, its still going to get way too hot.

for now, get a couple of these from home depot:

and do you have any way to read your temps?

Exo- terra temps with 100 watt at bottom of tank stays at 95.2 degrees during the day and at night it stays around 75.
