Are these retained eyecaps?

The last time I had a vet checkup, my veterinarian said that my lil' guy had retained eyecaps. He just had a perfect shed a few weeks ago(one rolled up tube and all) and the "wrinkles" still appear to be there. But that's all they appear to be - just wrinkles on the surface of what I'm assuming is a protective barrier to each eye.

I cant really tell from the pictures. A good way to cure the issue is to soak the snake in some warm water for a while. If this is post shed it's probably retained eye caps. If not your humidity is probably to low which can also be fixed by soaking. To remove the eye caps soak in warm water for about 15-20 minutes and then take a q-tip and gently rub the eye if you're comfortable enough to do it.

Easiest way to know is check the shed. If he shed eye caps and all it's most likely mild dehydration. Mine get it now and then if we've had a dry spell of weather.

I don't recommend fooling with his eyes trying to get what might not be an eye cap off, someone had a vet of all people blind his snake that way. If you don't still have the shed to check if the eye caps were in it, just bump up his humidity, maybe even mist a little, and wait for the next shed. If it's dehydration, the extra humidity will improve the appearance in a few days.

No, I don't still have the shed - it started to mold and it became rancid so I tossed it.

I'll mist more often and see if that does the trick...

As the OP said check the shed to see next time before you throw it out. Never seen a shed get moldy and rancid before I would soak him if you think he has stuck eye caps but from the pic it doesnt look like it to me. I definately would not try to manually remove them, soak him and use a wet towel and gently wipe over his eyecaps after soaking him, if it is stuck caps they will most likely come off with ease. Good Luck. Also, was this a vet that is experienced with snakes? Ive come across many vets that lack knowledge in the exotic reptiles department.

It actually looks vaguely like eye dents to me but it is hard impossiable to tell from the pictures. I would NEVER suggest messing about with eyes unless there was a large number of stuck eye caps and in that case a vet should be involved. Correct the humidity and keep tabs on it and in either case it will self correct.

I had got a female ball in october in the classifieds. She was kept really dry at her old house and i noticed she had stuck eye caps. She was in shed when I got her so i thought no problem. When she got home i kept her moist until she shed. She shed but her eyes still looked crinkley and dented. One looked like it had a stuck cap so I tried a few things and nothing worked to remove it. People on this site said just leave her till next shed and see what happens. She shed today and Im happy to say her eyes look normal now. My 2 cents, wait till one more shed, keep her moist and you should be fine.

This is actually the second shed since I noticed it, and the first post-vet shed. It doesn't seem that it's worsened, and I'd given him a few good soaks now and then as recommended by various people(not just you guys); and yet it still doesn't seem to go away. It doesn't seem that it's interfering with his sight, either. That's why I was suspicious it was just a dent of some sort due to the cold weather & low humidity up here.

I'll try to get a better picture later if I get some free time after work.
